On September 13, 2019, the headlines were, FDA finds cancer-causing carcinogens in popular heartburn drug Zantac. This drug has been sold for many years. Shouldn’t they have found that before their scientists told us it was perfectly safe to take, well except for all those usual side affects. But cancer was not one of those listed in small print on the box. They told us not to panic because the carcinogen N-nitrosodimethylalamine (NDMA) was only found in low levels. But I know a lot of patients that live on Zantac. They take it all day long. Of biggest concern in the news article was the stock price. It lost 26 cents after the bad news was released. The FDA didn’t even recommend to stop taking it, just to ask your doctor. Doc, is cancer causing chemicals right for me? While they are not recalling this drug because only small amounts of the carcinogen was found, they have recalled heart medications with the same carcinogen and same amounts?? In the meantime, the manufacturer, Sanofi says it is perfectly safe to take.
This is what I have to say on the subject. If you have to take antacids and proton pump inhibitors because you can’t digest your food and get heartburn/acid indigestion, then more likely than not you need more acid, not less. Undigested proteins make natural acids such as pyruvic and lactic. When you can’t digest your proteins because of a lack of stomach acid that was once naturally produced in your gut, you wind up with many health issues, autoimmune disorders, and chronic pain for just a few. You can ask your doctor about that and he’ll tell you I’m crazy.
But what do Italians put on their salad? Vinegar, which is acid, which is hydrogen ions. Once you start taking purple crack, a hydrogen ion blocker, you have a very poor chance of ever being healthy again, because believe it or not, it is important to digest your food. Of course the FDA and all of medicine disagrees with that. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t be selling expensive drugs that are made to stop you from digesting your food.
Now, who are you going to call?
